Technology that i want

Computers that can read human minds

This Post has been specially written for Indiblogger Contest

Imagine searching the Internet simply by thinking. Well, your imagination may soon turn into reality.

Think a new technology which will directly interpret words as they are thought, unlike current brain-controlled computers which require users to imagine making physical movements to control a cursor on a screen, this means you’ll be able to write letters, open emails or do Google searches just by thinking it.

The best part of this technology there will be no white lies left in this world!!!

Open Windows Live Mail in Newsreader Mode

Do you use Windows Live Mail only for reading your newsgroups? If yes I might get slower down a click when it opens in its default mode.
We have an way in opening up newsgroup mode directly but for that Windows7 requires some extra steps to work your local directories to modify the programs that reside on the Windows 7 Taskbar. With windows Vista quick launch toolbar what you can do is right click and access its properties directly. Whereas in Windows 7 that is not available as we are not provided with properties options in menu item.
For that initially you need to unhide the hidden files and folders. Then open the Explorer and search for user data. You will find that data at
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\Taskbar

In this folder you will find all the programs that are pinned on taskbar. Yes taskbar icons are located on sub-directory of a Quick launch Folder.
Right click on windows live mail shortcut and you will get the context menu that contains a menu item to the shortcuts properties:

Now Left Click on Properties and you will get the shortcuts property dialog.  In the Target box type /news and make sure you have a space between the last quotation mark and the slash character.

Once done click ok to finish. Now if you click on the Windows Live Mail icon on your taskbar it will launch directly in newsreader mode and allow you to access the newsgroups you read directly

It’s a nice access to those shortcut properties directly from the JUMPLIST

Windows Home Server Power Pack 3

Being a Microsoft Fan we all know that they are currently working on next version of Windows Home Server . They are glad to announce that their Beta is now available and its code name is “VAIL”. Microsoft releases this beta with a goal to solicit our feedback.

So whats new and exciting with the newer version of this windows? Although VAIL is still under development but sources say that VAIL has improved in following key areas.

  • Extending media streaming outside the home or office
  • Multi-PC backup and restore
  • Simplified setup and user experience
  • Expanded development and customization tools for partners

Some Hardware related tiems on installing the VAIL Beta:

  1. This OS will run only on 64bit version and not on 32 bit version since there are various compability issues with OEM drivers.
  2. Since it is still in ‘beta,’ please install the Vail code on a secondary computer as opposed to existing Windows Home Server v1 OEM systems (not even 64-bit systems) If you do install the beta on an existing system, you may experience a number of problems, including the inability to run WHS v1 add-in applications (even those provided by OEMs). Installing on a secondary machine will help ensure the best possible user experience.
  3. Installation of the Vail OS on a PC will also require users to wipe all data from that PC or device.
  4. The hardware requirements for Vail call for a 1.4 GHz x64 processor, 1 GB RAM, and at least one160 GB hard drive.

For developer, this beta includes a new Software Development kit that provides developers and partners to customize the OS.

Give Vail a test run today itself!!

IE9 Cocktail Preview

Microsoft in IE8 beta 2 made a commitment not to break the web. Following the same even IE9 cannot be now counted as a single browser. According to looks of it, Compatibility view will survive into the Final version (RTM) of IE9 allowing the browsers to acts as IE5,IE7,IE8 as well as IE9, displaying it on web content it plays nice with modern web standards as it is designed to be more compatible with older versions of Internet Explorer.

Early users can grab the IE9 Platform Preview and start swapping rendering models. Some of the best shortcuts are Alt+5: Force IE5 rendering mode, Alt+7: Force IE7 render mode, Alt+8: Force IE8 Rendering mode and Alt+7 Force IE9 Rendering mode.F12 launches Default developer tools . These developers tools allow users to control the browser mode: IE7, IE8, IE9 but also IE9 with 7 Compatibility view and IE8 8 compatibility view. Document mode is also made available with Quirks Mode,IE7 Standards, IE8 standards and IE9 standard, which are made default. In order to revert the Default Document mode, press ALT+O. .

By looks IE9 is much similar to IE8 and will be much interesting to watch the changes to be included in First public beta of IE9 browser.
